School board member Joyce Waddell will host a community meeting with District 3 residents to discuss potential cuts to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Faced with a growing funding gap, CMS chief Peter Gorman is looking to trim more than $100 million from his $1 billion-plus budget for the 2011-2012 school year. Many of those cuts will fall hard on urban schools that serve a disproportionate number of black and Latino students.

The community meeting is meant to give concerned residents a chance to ask questions and offer feedback.
