Mrs. Armelia Beatrice Thompson went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2011.
She was born on January 29, 1928, in Blacksburg, SC. Mrs. Thompson was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for 57 years. She was a Christian homemaker and a dedicated member of the Sunshine Club for the Blind.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: her two daughters, Mary Smith (Mike) of Southern Pines, NC, and Debra Pickens of Charlotte; Bill Pickens Jr. (son-in-law); one sister, Mrs. Martha Williams, of Lincolnton, NC; nine grandchildren, Mandie Miller Glenn, Candie Cousar (Nicole), John Miller, Laoni Kiana Miller, Amanda Michelle Ballard, Sheena Redfearn (Chris) Calvin Thompson, Hazel Pickens and Billy Pickens; 17 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Beatrice Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Thompson, and oldest daughter, Gloria Thompson.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC, and Britthaven Nursing Home of Charlotte.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Rd. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sunshine Club for the Blind, Bethlehem Center, 2705 Baltimore Ave., Charlotte, NC.
