Mecklenburg Ministries is partnering with Park Road Baptist Church to present a public discussion – A Conversation about Islam and America: Faith, Fear and our Future Together.
“We believe this dialogue is vital at this time, especially considering the backlash about building an Islamic center two blocks from Ground Zero – and in other places around our country,” the two groups said in announcing the conference.
Panalists include:
- Dr. Racelle Weiman, Vice President of the Dialogue Institute at Temple University, Philadelphia, and a member of Temple Beth El in Charlotte
- Imam Khalil Akbar, resident Imam of Masjid Ash Shaheed in Charlotte since 1988 and Regional Chaplain for the Correctional System in the Western Half of the state of North Carolina
- Rev. Dr. Russ Dean, co-pastor of Park Road Baptist Church and advocate for interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
