The Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, July 15.
Staff members from Johnson C. Smith University will be on hand to talk about the birth of the Black Football League. This match-up dates back to December 27, 1892, when the Livingstone College Blue Bears played Biddle Institute, which later became Johnson C. Smith University.
The game was played in the snow with Biddle earning the historic first victory (5-0). The rivalry continues today in the form of the annual Commemorative Classic.
The meeting will be held from 5:30p.m. to 7 p.m. inside the Belk Action Center at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, 330 S. Tryon Street.
