The Charlotte chapter of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) will hold its First Annual Community Relations Fundraiser Event on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Aquavina, just off The Green in uptown.

Each year, the Qcity chapter of NBMBAA donates money and time to assist local charities, including the Uptown Men’s Shelters, Birthday Blessings, Habitat for Humanity, Urban Ministry and Hands on Charlotte.

Proceeds from the fundraiser, called “Hearts for Charlotte,” will be used to support those efforts, said event coordinator Marlo S. Zappley.

The event includes free parking and cover, along with $1.99 appetizers and free wine tasting until 7 p.m. The group will raffled off prizes, with winners announced at 8 p.m.

For a $50 donation, Qcity entrepreneurs will get 1 minute to promote their businesses.

“Without a doubt, this will be one charitable event that you don’t want to miss,” Zappley said. “Just imagine making the difference in one individual’s life in our Charlotte community, even if it’s for a day or an hour.”

Organizers also hope the event will help raise awareness of the local NBMBAA chapter, which has more than 100 members.
