For the second year, the Charlotte Symphony and A Sign of the Times of the Carolinas will present Bridging Musical Worlds: Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The Historic Excelsior Club on Beatties Ford Road.
Featuring musicians of the Charlotte Symphony and A Sign of the Times’ jazz ensemble “Going Through Changes”, the program proclaims Dr. King’s message of unity through the exploration of classical music and jazz.
Although they are distinct musical “worlds,” classical music and jazz have learned much from each other and have much in common. The event culminates in a rousing joint performance of special arrangements for the combined ensemble by A Sign of the Times director Tyrone Jefferson.
