When I met Kimberly Nash Alexander, first lady of The Park Ministries, I instantly noticed her natural beauty and warm smile.

In later meetings, I came to also appreciate her sense of style, but was surprised to learn that her husband, Bishop Claude Alexander, buys most of her clothing.

In addition to her duties at one of the Qcity’s largest churches, Kimberly Alexander is a speech therapist and a mother of two. Her hectic schedule requires her to always be ready to put her best foot forward.

Here’s what she says are her style essentials:

Q. Describe your personal style?
Current, classy, conservative, yet creative.

Q. What celebrities’ styles do you most admire?
Anyone who looks effortless and classy.

Q. Where do you shop?
My husband does most of my shopping. I like Nordstrom and boutiques in Charlotte, Chicago and Florida.

Q. Are you into specific designers?
I like Anne Fontaine, Ferré and Escada.

Q. What’s your favorite accessory?
A great pair of boots in the fall because they complete the look.

Q. Do you wear jewelry?
It depends on where I am going. I prefer jewelry, but not so much that the jewelry makes the statement more than it enhances the entire look.

Q. What’s in your handbag?
Lipstick, gloss, notepad/pen and flash-drive.

Q. Are you a shoe fanatic?
No.

Q. What item in your wardrobe can’t you live without?
A great white shirt, a sharp black jacket and a sleek patent leather pump.

Q. What’s your latest fashion obsession?
A crisp white shirt with cuff links.

Q. What’s your latest fashion splurge?
Tights and textured hose.

Q. Name three items you think every stylish woman should own?
A black dress that can go from business to evening, black pumps and a casual outfit that makes you look and feel good about you.

Q. What’s in your makeup bag?
More makeup than most people have. I use all Mary Kay products.

Q. Do you wear perfume?
Yes, my favorites are Belle En Rykiel and Bond no. 9 – NY-Nuits de Noho.

Q. How do you maintain your hair?
I no longer use chemicals in my hair. I sleep with a satin pillowcase and I see a hair stylist to help keep my hair healthy.

Q. What products do you use on your hair?
Aveda and KeraCare.

Q. How do you pamper yourself?
Facial, pedicure, manicure and daily devotional time.

Q. What style rules do you live by?
Outer appearance is nothing without inner substance. I believe that your life should focus on things that have eternal value. I want my life to be about leaving a legacy of faith.
