Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a suspicious death that occurred Saturday afternoon in northwest Charlotte.
Shortly before 4:23 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Cunningham Drive to investigate a car fire, where they found a Dodge Durango fully engulfed. After firefighters extinguished the fire, investigators found a man’s body in the driver’s seat.
The victim was identified Sunday as Luis Miguel Catalan, 24.
Witnesses told police they saw two black males – one with dreadlocks — setting the vehicle on fire before fleeing the scene, possibly in a tan or beige Honda Accord or similar vehicle.
Police on Monday had released no information on how Catalan died.
