Whitney M. Young Award gala

The Urban League of the Central Carolinas will host its annual award ceremony to recognize outstanding work in the community.

 

The Urban League of Central Carolinas will host its premiere event — The Whitney M. Young Award Celebration — to honor individuals who do outstanding work in the community.

The annual fundraiser is one of the most recognized events in Charlotte and this year will honor several individuals, including Julianne Malveaux, an economist, author, businesswoman and the 15th president of Bennett College.

The honoree list also includes Brett Carter, president of Duke Energy Carolinas; David Taylor, president of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Art + Culture; and Astrid Chirinos, founder and principal of Diverso Global Strategies.
