In the Blood is a theater version of the classic American novel, The Scarlet Letter. The play centers around a woman named Hester La Negita, who lives under a bridge in the ghetto of Anywhere, USA.

Based on a woman named Hester La Negrita, In the Blood tells the tragic story of a life filled with racial, gender, and social injustice. The story takes place in a ghetto in Anywhere, USA, where Hester and her four children live underneath a bridge.

Written by African-American playwright and 2000 Pulitzer Prize nominee Suzan-Lori Parks, In the Blood is a gritty tale of a woman whose life has been plagued with hard times and tragedy.
