Historical Marker Dedication


Five students from St. Mary’s, a predominantly African-American Catholic church, were enrolled at St. Anne Catholic School in 1954, earning it the title of the first integrated school in South Carolina.

On Oct. 26, the Culture & Heritage Museums, St. Anne Catholic School and The Hands of Mercy, Inc. will be celebrating the history of St. Anne’s. Representatives from the school and community will speak and refreshments will be served.
