Johnson C. Smith University will hold a candlelight vigil in memory of Tiwanna “Koko” Hagans, owner of KoKoMo’s Coffeehouse and a 1994 graduate of JCSU.
Hagans, 37, died Monday night. The Mecklenburg County medical examiner has not determined a cause of death.
The JCSU service will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the plaza area in front of the Historic Biddle Hall. Hagans described herself as one of the school’s biggest boosters and had planned to open the university’s first on-campus coffee house later this year.
Hagans’ funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6 at noon at University Park Baptist Church. The family hour is set for 11 a.m. AL Jinwright Funeral Home is serving the family.
