Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a Monday morning shooting in the 1500 block of Majestic Meadow Drive, which left one person seriously injured.
The victim, Anthony Miller, 47, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center and was undergoing surgery. He was shot once in the arm and once in the upper leg.
Shortly before noon, officers responded to a shooting call placed by Miller’s family members. Witnesses told police that three black males knocked on their front door and came inside when the door was opened. The suspects said they were looking for a member a member of Miller’s family. When Miller confronted the men, an altercation ensued, during which one of the suspects pulled a gun. Miller struggled with the suspect for control of the gun and was shot.
The suspects fled in newer model white Mercury Marquis with dark tinted windows. The rear window had writing in white lettering across the top; the lettering is possibly in a Gothic style. The vehicle was last seen on Oakdale Road. The suspects are described as three black males, one with short dreads and a yellow hoodie.
Based on evidence gathered during a preliminary investigation and initial witness statements, detectives do not believe this was a random act.
