As reported by The Herald of Rock Hill, the South Carolina NAACP is refusing to hold its annual meeting in the state, citing the group’s ongoing boycott. The Oct. 8-11 meeting will be moved to Charlotte instead.

The NAACP has been boycotting South Carolina since 2000, when the group demanded that the Confederate flag be removed from the Statehouse in Columbia.

This will be the ninth year that the South Carolina NAACP has met outside the state.

At the Charlotte meeting, the group will hold talks on health care reform and sponsor an area jobs fair
