The infant daughter born last week to 15-year-old murder victim Tiffany Wright died Sunday at Carolinas Medical Center.

Aaliyan Wright was six days old.

Tiffany Wright, an 11th grader at Hawthorn High School, died Sept. 14 after she was shot in the head while waiting at a school bus stop in north Charlotte. She was 32 weeks pregnant. Her daughter was delivered in serious condition.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is working with the medical examiner and the Mecklenburg district attorney to determine whether Aaliyan’s death can be charged as a murder under N.C. Law.

So far, police have not charged anyone with Tiffany Wright’s death. Police have described Royce Mitchell, 36, as a “person of interest” in the case. Wright was his adopted sister.

Mitchell was charged last week with raping Wright. He also was charged with indecent liberties with a minor.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak directly to a homicide detective. They also may call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
