The colleges of the Atlanta University Center – Morehouse, Spelman and Clark — attract some of the finest students in the nation. But the slumlord properties that surround he center attract hookers, drug dealers and thugs, says a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
That point was driven home violently weeks ago when Jasmine Lynn, a Spelman student, was killed by a stray bullet as she and a friend walked along one of the public streets that crisscross Clark Atlanta University.
Where prominent neighborhoods once stood, black professionals and homeowners have moved out, leaving lots and houses to fall into disrepair.
