Skipper Beck, a prominent Charlotte business owner and sports figure, was killed Friday morning when the single-engine plane he was piloting crashed in Rock Hill, according to published reports.

According to the Charlotte Observer, a spokesperson for the Beck family confirmed to WCNC-TV, the Observer’s news partner, that Beck was piloting the Cirrus SR22 that went down about 7:15 a.m. at the Rock Hill York County Airport.
