First Lady Michelle Obama made headlines in March when she broke ground on an organic garden on the South Lawn of the White House.

Then…nothing. No updates at all.

Now the White House has released a YouTube video documenting the harvest. The nearly eight-minute clip is narrated by Michelle Obama and White House chef Sam Kass.
They describe the impact and results of the garden thus far – more than 200 pounds of food generated.

Kass describes breaking ground for the garden and adding soil amendments. He talks about the Victory Gardens of World War II and the gardening experiments of Thomas Jefferson.

Michelle Obama encourages Americans to view the White House garden as an example for others. She also encourages more family meals and healthy eating.
