Is Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe gravely ill?
A report in South Africa’s Times newspaper claimed he is. According to the Times, Mugabe was “secretly” whisked away to a Dubai hospital for treatment.
Zimbabwean officials call the claim “a load of rubbish,” noting that South African President Jacob Zuma is scheduled to visit the 85-year-old leader later this week.
Mugabe, one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders, has been blamed in recent years for violently suppressing opposition and casting the impoverished nation into its worst economic crisis since independence.
