Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have uncovered what they allege was a professional burglary ring with national and international connections.
The burglars targeted high-end homes in New York and south Charlotte.
In a statement Wednesday, CMPD called it “a very complex investigation,” but based on information gained through a search warrant and from authorities in New York, local investigators said they believe the group had been operating in south Charlotte since 2006.
The burglars allegedly targeted high-end homes, often stealing jewelry, investigators said. The stolen property was packaged and shipped to the New York City area. From there, some of the property made its way to Colombia, South America, CMPD said.
Police said they’ve made several arrests, including one suspect who had been featured on the television show “Americas Most Wanted.”
The investigation continues. CMPD asks that anyone with information call South Division burglary detectives at (704) 544-4835.
