Is Barack Obama’s presidency in trouble?
That’s what some pundits are suggesting.
Tonight at 8 p.m., President Obama holds a nationally televised (except for Fox News) press conference to push his case for health care reform. The stakes could hardly be higher.
In recent weeks Obama has seen his approval rating dip, and support for his health care plan is fading fast, even among some Democrats.
Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle, quoted in today’s New York Times, said this: “I think this will be a major factor in defining his presidency. Because he’s made it such an issue, and because he has invested so much personal time and effort, this will, more than stimulus and more than anything he has done so far, be a measure of his clout and of his success early on. And because it is early on, it will define his subsequent years.”
Qcity Question: Has Obama bitten off too much too fast? What advice would you offer the president?
