Kenneth Drakeford was born in Charlotte to Foster T. and Grace G. Drakeford on March 31, 1962. He departed this life on June 23, in Raleigh.
Kenneth was a member of the West Charlotte High School class of 1980, where he was a member of the track team and band. He received a B.S. degree in computer science from Johnson C. Smith University in 1988. Kenneth was a longtime employee of Food Lion in Raleigh.
He is survived by one brother, Bobby Drakeford; nieces, Lydia and Alexandra; and a nephew, Thomas, all of Huntersville; aunts Shirley (Jim) Biggers, Agnes (Paul) Moore of Gastonia, Jesse (Boykins) Jones and Shirley Dye of Long Island, N.Y., Eloise (Robert) Glenn of Tacoma, W.A., and Pauline Norman of Lexington, N.C; uncles David (Hazel) Dye of Charlotte and Ronald Dye of Clover, S.C., and other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Family visitation will be held on Sun., June 28, from 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., with the funeral following at the Zechariah Alexander Sr. Memorial Chapel, 1424 Statesville Ave., Charlotte, 28206. Interment will be at Beatties Ford Rd. Memorial Gardens.
