Mrs. Carrie Elizabeth Watts Dean, 85, peacefully departed this life on Fri, June 5, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital-Main.
Dean was born July 11, 1923 in Mint Hill, N.C. She was the oldest of six children born to the late Rev. Robert and Lula Watts.
Dean attended Mint Hill Public Schools and went on to Johnson C. Smith University. For several years, she worked for Carolina Foods where she monitored the making of the bakery goods until retirement.
She attended C. N. Jenkins Presbyterian Church where she was a faithful member and served as a deacon. She also was a member of the Women Circle #1 and AARP Charter Member.
Dean was preceded in death by her husband James W. Dean and son James A. Dean. She is survived by two sons, Robert W. Dean and Larry L. Dean of Charlotte and one daughter, Veronica W. Cason of Charlotte.
Her family also includes three daughters-in-law, Loretta Dean, Tona Dean and Laverne Dean. One son-in-law, David Cason; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Watts; five grandchildren, Alicia Jones (Aaron), Richard Dean (Venitra), Warren Dean (Sabrina), Melissa Spencer (Barren) and Taylor Cason; eight great-grandchildren, Renee, James, Nya, Nicole, Aubree Dean, Alexis, Ashleigh, and Sydney Jones; one great-grandchild, and an abundant number of nieces, nephews, relatives and devoted friends.
