It was not the kind of stumble the Obama administration could prepare for with a Supreme Court nominee.
On Monday, Judge Sonia Sotomayor tripped and broke her ankle in an airport on her way to Washington to meet with senators who will vote on her confirmation.
The White House said Sotomayor sustained a small fracture to her right ankle. At last report, she was keeping her six appointments with senators today, despite walking on crutches.
She even stopped at the White House Monday before heading to a hospital for x-rays, according to reports.
