Kobe Bryant may be the man on the court, but off the court he’s got drama.
Maria Jimenez, Kobe’s ex-maid, has filed papers in Los Angeles County court alleging the NBA star is using a lawsuit to stifle her free speech. Jimenez says she has a right to tell all, even though she signed a confidentiality agreement with the Bryants when the couple hired her.
In her court petition, she cites California’s anti-SLAPPs statute, which protects individuals from frivolous lawsuits commonly called SLAPPs, or Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation. SLAPPs often are without merit and are meant to silence debate or public comment.
Jimenez is suing the Bryant’s, alleging that Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, was an abusive employer. The Bryants want to keep her quiet and have countersued.
We can’t wait to see what dirt she dishes.
