Homicide detectives on Sunday arrested Keenan Daryl Harte, 28, and charged him with the Saturday morning killing of Brandon Markith Blackeney.
Blackeney, 21, was shot around 4 a.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of The Plaza. Witnesses told police that Blackeney was standing in a parking lot near Club Crystal when he got into a dispute with another man. The suspect shot Blackeney then fled in a white Dodge Charger.
When officers arrived they found Blackeney suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Harte was arrested without incident around 7 p.m. Sunday. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officials said Harte had been arrested at least 10 previous times in Mecklenburg County since August of 2005.
