CMPD is investigating a west Charlotte shooting this morning that left one man dead.
The victim was identified as William Thomas Young, 27. Investigators believe Young and the shooter knew one another.
The incident occurred around 9:24 a.m. at 5823 Rocky Mount Ct.
When officers responded to a call at that address, they discovered that a fight had occurred inside a home. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Mercy Hospital.
CMPD has recorded 17th homicides so far in 2009, compared with 34 this time last year.
