A driver was killed Sunday night when his car struck a tree and overturned in the 6700 block of Pineville-Matthews Road.
Police did not identify the victim, described as a white male, pending notification of family members.
The victim was the lone occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred when the vehicle struck the center median curb, overcorrected and continued off the right side of the road. The vehicle then stuck a tree and overturned. The victim was partially ejected before the vehicle came to rest on the driver side.
Pineville-Matthews road was closed temporary while police investigated the accident.
