It seems Mike Minter won’t be running for Congress after all.

The former Carolina Panthers safety told the Associated Press on Tuesday that he has decided against seeking the Republican nomination for the 8th District seat.

Minter said earlier this month that he was considering a 2010 challenge to
Democrat Larry Kissell, who defeated 10-year Republican incumbent Robin Hayes in November’s election.

He said the job would put too much strain on his family, the AP reported today.
