Mr. Joe Tucker was born in Union, S.C., on Oct. 30, 1919. He departed his life here on earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the residence.

He was united in marriage for over 50 years to Ora Lee Thompson of Mineral Springs, N.C. Through this union, five children were born. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Tucker was employed by Duff-Norton Company of Charlotte where he later retired.

Mr. Tucker was a faithful member of Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church for over 40 years. He was the Pastor Steward for many years and served on various boards and organizations. He was involved with the building fund and various projects conducted in order to make transition to the new sanctuary.

Surviving in loving memories of his life: wife, Ora Lee Thompson Tucker; sons, Joe Lee Tucker, Gordon Tucker, Randy Tucker (Lynette); daughters, Jacqueline Tucker, and Vanessa Metz (Ronald); grandchildren, Nakita Shata Lawrence, Korean Knight, Gordon Tucker, Jr. (Dayna), Jonathan Tucker (Xiomara), Nicholas Tucker, Ronald Metz Jr., Samantha Metz; great-grandchildren, Kiyanna Jones, Xanenah Tucker, Xavier Tucker, Jonathan Tucker Jr., Nakeshia Lawrence and Nakia Washington; brothers-in-law, Rev. Carnell Thompson (Clara), Robert Bell (Lula) and Arthur Thompson (Ann); sisters-in-law, Jean Thompson and Cleon Littlejohn, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
