Johnson C. Smith head track coach Lennox Graham was named Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association 2009 Outdoor Women’s Track and Field Coach of the Year.
The announcement was made Tuesday at the CIAA spring meeting in Durham.
The Lady Golden Bulls finished third overall at the 2009 CIAA Outdoor Championships, just behind Bowie State University (2nd) and Saint Augustine’s College (1st).
Coach Graham, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, is in his second season as JCSU’s head track coach. Last year, finished fifth in the CIAA championship. Graham has helped the school produce better performances this year with a young group of talent.
“This is a great honor to be recognized for our team’s efforts this year,” Graham said. “I share this award with my assistant, Larry Moore, and my student-athletes, who have put forth a tremendous work ethic this season and continue striving to improve.”
In his 14-year coaching career, Graham won six national high school championship titles at Kingston College (High School) in Kingston. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alabama State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of New Orleans.
