Johnson C. Smith University has hired Joy Paige as its new vice president for institutional advancement.
Paige, currently senior vice president and community affairs manager at Wells Fargo, will start in the new cabinet-level position on May 1. Her new new job will include overseeing the school’s fundraising efforts, career services and public relations.
Paige spent more than 20 years in banking, mostly at Wachovia, which was bought by Wells Fargo. Previous jobs included stints in retail banking, private banking and community relations.
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity with a university that has such a rich history in our community,” she said in a press statement. “My goal with this new position is to deliver on (JCSU President Ronald Carter’s ) vision to make JCSU Charlotte’s nationally recognized, premier urban independent university.”
Paige holds a bachelor degrees in industrial relations and psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and received their Harvey Beech Outstanding Black Alumni Award. She is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte (Class XXVIII) and has been involved in numerous civic activities.
She currently serves on the boards of Communities in Schools and Women’s Intercultural Exchange and is president of the Crown Jewels Chapter of the Links Inc.
