A Julius Peppers trade by the Carolina Panthers appears unlikely, says the Charlotte Observer’s NFL reporter Charles Chandler.

“No trade is in sight and the team is moving forward with plans that he’ll be back next season,” he writes on Charlotteobserver.com.

Neither the New England Patriots nor the Philadelphia Eagles has shown much interest in dealing for the Pro Bowl defensive end, and since Peppers hasn’t signed a tender offer he received from the Panthers, the team can’t trade him under NFL rules, Chandler says.

The next big test of Pepper’s mind set: Whether or not he shows up May 1 at the Panthers’ post-draft minicamp.
