Weeping Willow AME Zion Church will host “Mind Body and Soul: Health Symposium 2009” on Saturday, April 18, at the church, 220 Milton Road, Charlotte.

The event will include a health fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a health issues panel discussion. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

“There will be a panel of health professionals from various backgrounds discussing a variety of topics with a focus on minority health,” said event coordinator Monica Carter. “We will discuss smoking cessation and stress management.”

There will be two opportunities to join the discussion. The first session will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The second will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The event also includes free on-site health screening for diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, Carter said. There will also be healthy snacks and children’s activities.
