Author Terry McMillan is coming to the Qcity this week to benefit the Charlotte Literary Festival.

McMillan is best known for her third novel, ā€œWaiting to Exhale,ā€ which spent more than 38 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and was made into a movie. Her fourth book, ā€œHow Stella Got Her Groove Back,ā€ reached No. 1 on the bestseller list.

McMillan will be at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center inside the McGlohon Theatre on Saturday, April 18, as part of the ā€œChange is Coming to Charlotteā€ event series, which benefits the literary festival.

As part of this event, Charlotte author Omar Tyree will interview McMillan onstage. She also will take questions from the audience. The event will include vendors, spoken word performances, comedy by Prince Paul and live jazz from The Queens Collective.

McMillan is currently working on establishing her own designer textile company featuring dyed linens that were exhibited in Central Park as a benefit for the Harlem Textile Works.
