Ever wonder why some groups or individuals seem to get lots of media coverage while others receive little or none?

For the third straight year, the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists is holding its “Secrets to Accessing the Media” workshop. This free event will feature a panel of journalists from newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and Internet, all offering tips and advice on how to get stories told, explaining how their particular mediums are produced and answering questions from the audience.

Panelists include:
April Bethea, reporter for The Charlotte Observer
Glenn Burkins, publisher and editor of QcityMetro.com
Janine Davis, producer and co-host of Power 98 FM’s morning show
Molly Grantham, WBTV/WJZY 10 p.m. anchor and reporter
Carlton Hargro, editor of Creative Loafing
Richard Thurmond, editor and associate publisher of Charlotte magazine

The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at the Afro-American Cultural Center, 401 N Myers St., Charlotte. Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
