Mrs. Twitty of Charlotte departed this life on March 15, 2009 at her home after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Samuel Burris Brown and Mary Ella Gaffney Brown, she was born March 16, 1917 in Charlotte.
A Service of Celebration will be held Friday, March 20, 2009, at ll a.m. at Simpson-Gillespie United Methodist Church, 3545 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetary. The family will receive friends at the home, 1725 Madison, Avenue, from 4 to 6 p.m.,Thursday, March 19th.
Mrs. Twitty, a retired teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, was a faithful member of Simpson-Gillespie United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Marilyn Twitty Marable of Richmond, Va.; son, Walter W. Twitty Jr. of Charlotte; one sister, Burnas Lucille Brown Wright of Lancaster, SC; and many other relatives and devoted friends.
In her honor, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Center, 2705 Baltimore Avenue, Charlotte., 28203, and Simpson-Gillespie United Methodist Church, 3545 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, 28216.
