The Park Ministries will host the “2009 Victory After Party,” a gospel concert for youths age 14 and up on Thursday, Feb. 26.
The concert will include award-winning gospel artists Byron Cage and Jonathon Nelson, along with the Benedict College gospel choir.
“People can expect high-voltage, high-energy performances from some of the best regional and national gospel artists,” said Darrel Izzard, event coordinator.
The concert is part of the 2009 Gospel Heritage Praise and Worship Conference, an annual event that honors gospel artists.
According to the Gospel Heritage Foundation’s mission statement, the goal of the conference is to “preserve the heritage and perpetuate the legacy of Gospel music” by educating people from around the world about the history and significance of America’s Gospel genre.
In previous years, the conference has been held in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. This year, University Park Baptist Church will be the main venue.
The conference will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Feb. 26 – 27. Keynote speakers will include the Rev. Claude Alexander, Sheryl Brady, Donald Lawrence, William Murphy III, Judith Christie McAllister and gospel artists Andrae and Sandra Crouch.
