Thomas Y. Chunn Sr., of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Avante Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Charlotte, after a long illness. His wife, son, sister and nieces were by his side.
Mr. Chunn was formerly employed by Temco as a supervisor in Stony Brook, N.Y., until he retired in 1988. In 1989 he and his family relocated to Charlotte, where he resided until his death.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Chunn; mother, Notie Smith Chunn; brothers, George Chunn, Herbert Chunn, John Chunn, Robert Chunn and Hardin Chunn; sisters, Mary Carson, and Henrietta Blackwell.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hermenia M. Chunn of Charlotte; son, Thomas Y. Chunn Jr. of Charlotte; sister, Catherine Brawley of Mocksville, N.C.; brothers, Ervin Chunn of Mocksville and Paul Chunn of Salisbury; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
