On The Town With Toni (Sept. 16-18)

Comedy, bull riding and Indian culture are on my to-do list this weekend in the Queen City.

Last week I tripped and got a knot on my head and a black eye. I definitely thought I was seeing stars, but I still managed to get out on the town and enjoy my passion as a social butterfly.

I went to a luncheon sponsored by the local chapter of National Coalition of 100 Black Women honoring outstanding women in the Charlotte community. The love and respect that women here have for each other is overwhelming, and I am always delighted to see us celebrating one another.

I also attended a red-carpet event at the EpiCentre, were the Fox network showcased its fall TV lineup. Without giving too much away, stay tuned for the series Pitch, based on a young, black pitcher who becomes the first woman to play Major League Baseball.

For those who remember Danny Glover and Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, a new version starring Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford will also heat things up. And finally, based on the teaser I saw for “EMPIRE,” you’ll want to sit down the entire hour for the season opener.

Now for my weekend picks. I hope to see you on the town.
